Newsletter – September 2013

Welcome

A big welcome back to all our boys and girls for the school year 2013-14! We extend a very special welcome to our 18 new Junior Infants and to the many new families who have joined our school community this school year.

Maths Classes

This year we are delighted to be in the position to offer each class their own individual Maths teacher. Parents of children in last year’s 2nd, 3rd and 4th Classes will be familiar with this arrangement from this past school year. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children. Split classes (Senior Infants and Fifth class) will be re-united daily for their Maths class. Maths classes have been up and running since Monday. Your child’s Maths teacher for the school year 2013-14 is detailed below.

Junior Infants – Mrs O’Meara                                 Third Class – Ms.Lawlor

Senior Infants – Ms.Ryan                                        Fourth Class – Ms.Maguire

First Class – Mrs Mather                                         Fifth Class – Mrs Kennedy

Second Class – Ms.Maguire                                    Sixth Class – Ms.Kirby

Parent/Teacher Communications

The Principal and staff operate an ‘open door’ policy regarding parent/teacher communications. Working together, we can provide the very best for your child. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s education, or indeed if you have any worries or concerns that you would like to share with us, we both welcome and encourage you to do so. An appointment can be made with your child’s class teacher through our school secretary.

Please forward Book Rental and Art and Craft payment to the office at your earliest convenience. We ask that all payments made to the office are in an envelope;

  • With your child’s name clearly written on it.
  • Detailing what the payment is for. (Book rental, insurance etc.)

Your child’s school insurance details were sent out on Monday. Please forward payment to the office as soon as possible.

School Calendar

Please find attached our school calendar with details of all school closures for the coming school year.

Bag Packing

Some time ago the school secured a bag-packing slot at Dunnes Stores, Nenagh, on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th October. As you will note from our school calendar, this bag-packing date happens to coincide with a school closure for the referendum. It is an important fund raiser for our school and as always we will need your help. We will contact you, with more details, nearer the time.
