Bishop Kieran O’Reilly visits Kilruane NS

Bishop Kieran O’Reilly visited our school on Tuesday 20th May. His first task of the day was to present Ms.Kirby’s Confirmation class with their Pioneer Pins. Thank you to the local members of the PTAA (Pioneer Total Abstinence Association) committee , Chairperson, Eileen Gaynor and Secretary, Breda Kirby who were with us on the day to congratulate and support our boys and girls on becoming young Pioneers.

Bishop Kieran then called to Ms.Lawlor’s Communion Class and the children told him all about their First Holy Communion Day.

Bishop Kieran then visited the remaining classes and spent some time chatting with the children and answering their questions about his day to day life as a Bishop. He was delighted to hear some lovely hymns that the children learned this year from the Alive O Religion Programme.

School Staff are currently planning “Active Schools Week”, the highlight of which will be our “Annual Sports Day”. This week will also include daily PE classes for all! More details to follow. A big thank you to the volunteers from Mrs Kennedy’s class who are taking turns to plan and organize running, catching and throwing games on the ball court, to ensure that our very youngest children remain active during lunchtimes.
