Tá a lán comórtaisí ar siúl idir comortaisí focail, comórtaisí ealaín agus tráth na gceist le haghaidh ranganna a dó go dtí rang a sé. Tá duaiseanna beaga againn freisin. Socraiodh gur 15 Márta 2016 an ‘Lá Forógra’ do scoileanna in Eirinn mar chuid de chlár cuimhneacháin Eire 2016. Beidh lá speisialta againn ar an lá sin mar béimid ag cur suas ár mBratach Náisiunta taobh amuigh den scoile. Beidh ceolchoirm againn sa halla le haghaidh na páisti, le filíocht, ceol agus amhráin stairiúla. Tá súil againn go mbainfidh gach duine an-taitneamh as na heachtraí go léir. Tá cead ag na páisti an dath glas a chaitheamh ar an lá sin, hata, scairf, t-léine…aon rud. Beidh an-lá againn

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016
Seachtain na Gaeilge is with us again and no doubt all the pupils are looking forward to the various activities that we have lined up for the coming days. We have many competitions organised, from word competitions to art competitions and there will also be a table quiz for second to sixth class with lots of prizes to be won. In addition, as part of our Nations 2016 commemorative programme, March 15th has been designated “Proclamation Day” for all schools in Ireland. We will have a special day here at the school on the 15th, we will raise our national flag, together with all the other schools in the country. We will have a little concert in the halla for the children, when each class will perform an Irish poem, song or play a piece of music. Children can wear an item of green on the day, a hat, scarf, t-shirt, together with their uniform. We hope everybody will enjoy all the activities.

Important Health and Safety Message
Together with our Board of Management and Parents Council and in the interests of Health and Safety, we remind you that you must collect your child at the school gate at 3pm hometime.

Drama Classes
As part of the schools programme of events for 2016, we are delighted to welcome local drama facilitator Joanna Parkes to our school, beginning this Thursday. Joanna will deliver a 6 week drama programme to all classes.
The drama programme for Senior classes (third to sixth) is called “ Behind the Barricades 1916” and it will explore various aspects of the 1916 Rising, focusing on the experiences of ordinary people living in Dublin during the extraordinary events at the time. The children will imagine, for example, living through this experience from the point of view of a family living in a peaceful, elegant existence in Merrion Square and also a poor family living in squalor and poverty in a tenement off O’Connell Street.
The younger classes programme “ Re-imaging our Ancient Myths”, will explore ancient Irish Myth and legend, children will be given the opportunity to bring some of our favourite Irish Myths to life including, The Salmon of Knowledge, Fionn and the Fianna, Fionn and the Scots Giant and The King with the Horses Ears.
We ask for a contribution of €5 per child to help with the running costs of the programme, the BOM will subsidise the remaining cost from monies raised at fundraising events.
Cumann na mBunscol Handball
Congratulations to County Champion Hannah Grace who recently won the Cumann na mBunscol Handball u11 County Final. Hannah went on to represent our school in the Regional Finals a couple of weeks ago but was narrowly defeated in her game. We are very proud of you Hannah!

Credit Union Table Quiz
Well done to our Table Quiz team who recently took part in the Credit Union Tablequiz for Primary Schools in Nenagh. Despite their hard work in the lead up to the event and putting in a fantastic performance on the night, our team narrowly missed out on a place in the Final. Well done to our team, Alana Correia, Méibh Daly, Megan Dooley and Abby Slevin.

Easter Egg Raffle
The Parents Council have organised their annual ‘Easter Egg Raffle’ fundraiser again this year. Tickets are available from your child’s class teacher at €1 per strip. Tickets will go on sale from next Monday. The raffle will be held in the halla on “Proclamation Day”. We thank the Parents’ Council for their continued support.

School Closures
The school will close this Friday 4th. The school will close for the Easter Holidays at 12:30pm on Wedesday 16th March and will re-open on Monday 4th April.

World Book Day
Our School Library is up and running and the children really enjoy visiting the library to change their books. To celebrate World Book Day on 3rd March, the school has purchased a new library seating system for the children’s comfort while they are at the library.
