Trick or Treat for Templestreet
Our annual fundraiser for Templestreet Children’s Hospital takes place this Friday at the school. Children can wear fancy dress or their own clothes. A donation would be most welcome for this worthy cause, (€1 to €2 per child or whatever you can afford). Children can bring a treat in their lunchboxes as it is a very special day at Kilruane NS. Please remember we are a NUT FREE ZONE. All money raised will go to the Isobel and Tess Duff Memorial Foundation at Templestreet.

Friendship Weeks
In line with our revised anti-Bullying policy, the children are currently enjoying ‘Friendship Weeks ‘, at the school (weeks before and after the mid-term). The central theme for our friendship weeks is our school motto – ‘Kind Hands, Kind Feet and Kind Words’. The teachers will teach formal lessons from the Stay Safe programme and in addition, the children will hear stories, make posters and write poetry based on the themes of friendship and bullying awareness.

Dromineer Literary Arts Festival
Congratulations to 4th class pupil Adam Carroll, who won third prize in a Primary School Poetry Competition run by The Dromineer Literary Arts Festival Committee this school year. Adam was presented with his certificate and prize at an event held recently at the Yacht Club in Dromineer. Well done to Hannah Grace, 5th class and Jennifer O’Leary 3rd class whose poems were highly commended in the competition.

IT Equipment
The BOM has invested in additional IT equipment since September and has prioritised this area for additional funding going forward. We have purchased a new interactive whiteboard, teaching laptops and a selection of interactive tablets for the children’s use.

Parents Council
The Parents Council held their AGM in the school last week. The following officers were elected, Martina Ryan ( Chairperson), Margot Coughlan (Treasurer) and Áine Crossan (re-elected as Secretary). We would like to thank Andrea Correia (outgoing Chairperson) and Anne Carroll (outgoing Treasurer) for their dedication to the school since the formation of the PC. Both Andrea and Anne have opted to remain on the committee. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the PC for their recent donation towards the purchase of PE equipment and IT equipment at the school and for funding our very popular Tennis lessons last May/June.

Payments to the Office
We kindly ask that you settle any outstanding payments, bookrental, insurance, swimming etc. before the mid-term break, as the school needs to settle accounts. If you have any query in relation to your payments please contact the office.

Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent Teacher meetings will take place on Tuesday 15th November and Tuesday 22nd November. Each class teachers will be in touch with your date and time, after the mid-term break.

Mid-term break
We close this Friday, 28th October, (usual home times please), for the mid-term break. The school will re-open on Monday, 7th November. Enjoy the break everybody!
