Indoor Athletic Event
Well done to all the boys and girls from 4th to 6th, who took part in Nenagh Olympic’s Indoor Track and Field Event last Wednesday. It was another most memorable day and it was wonderful to hear the children’s enthusiasm as they cheered their team mates on. As you are aware, the emphasis is on taking part and there were too many fantastic performances to list, particularly from children who did their first relay, their first 500m race, shot put and turbo javelin event. Congratulations to our more experienced athletes, who did us so proud on the day, we would like to commend them on their willingness to share their knowledge in guiding their peers through the events. Thank you to Ms. Maguire and Ms. Talbot for organising training sessions at the school and thank you to all the parents who were able to come along to support us on the day.
Old t-shirts
Please send in any adult sized old t-shirts to class teachers. We will use them to protect clothing during art lessons
Tennis lessons
We are delighted to be in a position to provide free tennis lessons for the children during school. A sincere thank you to our Parents Association who are in a position to fund this year’s lessons once again. Lessons will take place during the last term on either Thursday or Friday’s for 5 weeks. All equipment will be provided.
Hurling with Gilbert
Hurling training for all classes from 1st to 6th will begin after the Midterm break on Thursday 2nd March. All children will need their own hurley and helmet, both are available through the school. Please call into Mary after mid-term, if you need to purchase either. During the sessions, the emphasis is placed on skill development, fitness and fun rather than playing games of hurling and sessions are designed to ensure that all children can participate fully, regardless of hurling ability.
Credit Union Quiz Team
A big congrats to our U13 Quiz team who put in a fantastic performance at the Credit Union Regional Final held in Nenagh last month. Well done to Conal Daly, Molly Kennedy, Jack Moyles and Mikaela Reddan on finishing second, in a quiz which proved to be quite challenging. Well done to our junior team, Adam Carroll, Hannah Dooley, Darragh O’ Leary and Christine Percy who narrowly missed out on a top placing.
School Closures
The school closes today, Friday 17th February for the Midterm break and will re-open on Monday 27th February.
