Our 6th class children will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation this Sunday 2nd April at 11am in St.Michael’s and St.John’s Church, Cloughjordan. They are busy with Confirmation practices and getting ready for the ceremony this week and recently enjoyed a trip to the Monastery in Roscrea to prepare for the Sacrament. We hope you all have a wonderful day.

Cumann na mBunscol 2017
Best of luck to our u13 camogie team who will take part in the first of our Cumann na mBunscol outings for 2017, next Wednesday in Toomevara at 12noon. Parents are welcome to come along on the day to cheer us on.

Parents Association News
Our Parents Association will be holding two fundraisers in the coming weeks. Our annual Easter Egg Raffle will take place next week. Tickets will cost one euro per strip and are available from your child’s class teacher.
In addition, the Parents Association are running a ‘Bag2School’ campaign this year. This is an opportunity for all of us to clear out our cupboards and to recycle unwanted adult and children’s clothing, shoes (tied together), soft toys, belts and handbags. No duvets, pillows, curtains, bedding, towels or end of life clothing. The school will receive money for every bag collected. Extended family, friends and neighbours are welcome to drop bags to the school also. All monies raised by the Parents Association go directly towards organised activities for the children. More details to follow next week.

Green Team Update
Best of luck to Mrs O’Meara and her Green Team who recently submitted their Green Flag application for our fifth flag in Biodiversity. Green Flag Assessor, Catherine Broderick visited the school last week and was hugely impressed by the amount of work Mrs O’Meara and all children and staff have put into the whole area of biodiversity this past couple of years. Catherine was particularly impressed with the vast amount of knowledge the children had, in relation to Biodiversity and environmental issues in general. Catherine’s report together with the green flag application form will determine whether or not we will be awarded our 5th Flag. We hope to hear good news soon. Fingers crossed everybody!

School Uniform
Please ensure that your child wears the school uniform every day. The children have been wondering about shorts, particularly during the warm spell we had during the week. Please use your discretion after Easter and into May and June in relation to shorts. Hopefully we will get some warm weather. Reminder, shorts must be black /navy. Kilruane club shorts are perfect.
