Raising the Green Flag
As you already know the school was awarded its 5th Green Flag earlier this term. We will raise our new flag on Wednesday next 7th June at 10.30am.This simple ceremony will take place towards the front of the school (weather permitting). Each class will perform a song or a piece of music and tell you all about our Green Flag journey here at Kilruane NS.
We have invited our retired colleague, Mrs Alma Mather to raise our flag.
Parents are welcome to attend the ceremony. Should the weather come against us we will be in touch, via text that morning.

Active Week
Active Week will take place next week 6th to 9th June. Children can wear their school tracksuit/poloshirt and shorts all week. We have organised some lovely activities for the children again this year. Siobhán O’Leary will take the children for a yoga session during the week and Michelle Hennessey will also put on a hiphop class for all. We have tennis with Kieran on Friday and our annual Sports Day takes place on Thursday. We will also have our annual Parents Association Sponsored Walk.

Sponsored Walk
The Parents Association are helping us to organise their annual sponsored walk which will take place on school grounds during active week, next week.
The perimeter of our pitch has been measured and we hope to reach our target of 10K! by the end of next week.
Each class will walk a little everyday and Ms.Kirby will keep a tally in reception.
Please find attached a sponsorship card. All contributions are welcome, whatever you can afford.
Please return card and money to the school by Friday 16th June.

Sports Day 2017
Our annual Sports Day will take place on Thursday, 8th June .
Parents are invited to join us from 11.30a.m. Children will break for lunch 1.00-1.30pm and sporting activities will continue afterwards.
Children bring a lunch as usual, an extra drink might be a good idea. As Sports Day is a very special day at Kilruane N.S. a treat is allowed ! Please be reminded that Kilruane NS is a nut free zone and continue to be vigilant about the contents of your child’s lunchbox.
Again this year all children from Junior Infants to 6th will be on a team. Each team will have a colour – blue team, red team , white team, green team. Your child will be told their colour at school and we ask, if possible that your child wears some item of that colour on the day, e.g. a child on the blue team might wear a blue t-shirt or blue shorts or blue socks etc.
Please use your own judgement in relation to the weather. Apply sunscreen that morning if necessary and your child may need a sunhat.
All home times remain the same. Infants 2p.m., everyone else 3p.m.
At home times, we ask that you please allow teachers to bring children back to their classrooms. Infants can be collected from their class room as usual and all other classes at the school gate as normal.
We look forward to seeing you all on the day.

RSE
RSE (Relationships and Sexuality Education) classes will be taught in June. Each class teacher will send a note home to inform you of a brief content of the lesson before it is covered in class. In addition our RSE policy can be viewed on our website.
