Welcome

A big welcome back to all our boys and girls for the school year 2014-15! We extend a very special welcome to our 12 new Junior Infants, Shay, Cherise, Dara,  Kallen, Culann,  Alanna, Liam, Clodagh, Bronagh, Karl, Moya and Sarah. A very special welcome to Ellie and Faye who have joined Ms.Ryan’s Senior Infant and First Classes this year.

 

Support Tipp

The children can wear their School Tracksuit or Tipperary/Kilruane colours to school tomorrow. Up Tipperary!

 

Parent/Teacher Communications

The Principal and staff operate an ‘open door’ policy regarding parent/teacher communications. Working together, we can provide the very best for your child. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s education, or indeed if you have any worries or concerns that you would like to share with us, we both welcome and encourage you to do so. An appointment can be made with your child’s class teacher through our school secretary. In addition, formal Parent teacher meetings will be held later in the school year.

 

Enrolment Ceremony

An Enrolment Ceremony for the Sacrament Classes |(2nd & 6th ) will take place in Kilruane Church on Saturday, October 4th at 6pm. All children who are preparing to receive their First Holy Communion and Confirmation must attend together with their parents.

 

Cross Country Championships 2014.

The annual Schools Cross Country Championships will take place on Wednesday 1st October next in Thurles Crokes. Our school team of some 25 children are currently in training for the event. We wish them the best of luck in Thurles.

After School Activities

Kilruane NS is a hive of ‘After School Activities’ these days – Yoga classes with Siobhán O’Leary began last Friday. Geraldine McNulty resumed her annual Speech and Drama classes on Thursday last  and preparation for this year’s Primary Schools Cross Country Championships is in full swing with after school training sessions taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays with Ms.Maguire.

Tracksuit Days

Tracksuit Days for all classes will be Thursday and Friday. Full school uniform must be worn Monday to Wednesday. Your child’s class teacher will inform your child if he/she is required to wear their tracksuit on any other day. (Matches, school trips etc.)

 

Tin Whistle

Tin Whistle lessons for First to Sixth classes began last week. This year your child’s class teacher will collect one euro weekly from your child.

Payments to the office

Please forward Book Rental, Art and Craft payments and your child’s insurance payment to the office at your earliest convenience. We ask that all payments made to the office are in an envelope;

  • With your child’s name clearly written on it.

  • Áine Ní Fhlartha from “Seed Savers” is coming to the school next week to talk to the children about ‘Biodiversity’, the theme for our 5th Green Flag.
  • We hope to plant winter vegetables over the coming weeks and we are also getting ready to sow some Daffodil bulbs. Our window boxes are in full bloom and add a lovely splash of colour to the front of the school.
  • The school has secured a one day bagpacking slot at Dunnes Stores, Nenagh on Friday, October 10th . As always we will need your help with the packing. More details to follow next week.
  • Parents are reminded that we ask that Birthday Invites are not distributed in school. Young children in particular can become quite upset if they haven’t been invited. We ask for your co-operation as always, in relation to this matter.
