Active Flag

Great news ! Kilruane NS has been awarded an Active Flag! This is a fantastic achievement for our small school and we now join a very small percentage of schools in the country who have received this prestigious award. The Active School Flag is a Department of Education initiative which recognises schools that strive to achieve a physically active school community. The overall goal is to increase physical activity and extra curricular activities in our school and to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The awarding committee was particularly impressed with our commitment towards introducing children to a wide range of sporting activities including yoga, judo, athletics, cross country and of course hurling and gaelic football.

We hope to have our Active Flag flying before the New Year and we plan to have our second ‘Active Week’ later in the school year when we will officially celebrate this prestigious award.

Well done to Ms.Lawlor, our Active Schools co-ordinator, the Active School Committee and indeed all School Staff who came on board so enthusiastically to make this possible.
