Green News
A big thank you to Ardcroney Woodcarvers, Johnny Peters, Johnny Spain, Philly Reddan and Andy Whelan for coming to our school last Thursday, to share their talents with us and to display their wonderful pieces of Bog Oak. The children heard about how bog oak is formed in our boglands and how it is harvested. The woodcarvers also demonstrated the techniques they use to transform the raw wood into beautiful pieces of art.

The children also look forward to a visit on Thursday 9th February from bird expert, Albert Nolan for a ‘Bird Study Day’ , which will include taking the children on a nature walk on school grounds, identifying and sharing stories about the wide variety of native birds that share our surrounds here at the school.

We have also invited local bee expert, Tom Starr to come and share his knowledge and expertise with us. Tom will visit the school on Thursday 2nd March.

All these events have been organised by Mrs O’Meara and her Green Team as they journey towards securing our schools 5th Green Flag (Biodiversity) later in the school year.
