Trick or Treat for Templestreet

As you already know our annual Templestreet fundraiser takes place this Friday!  All proceeds will go towards the Isobel Duff Memorial Foundation at Templestreet. Children are allowed to bring a treat in their lunchbox on Friday as it is a very special day at Kilruane NS!

Green Team Update

Deirdre Cox from the Environmental Section of North Tipp Co.Council visited our school recently and spoke to the Green Team on the theme , “Biodiversity”, the theme for our 5th Green Flag. This will involve learning more about nature, wildlife and the habitats in our school environment. Please take a look at our new notice boards in reception, for updates on our work and on the projects we will be undertaking.

Maths

In conjunction with our School Self Evaluation in the area of Numeracy last school year, Ms.Maguire has set up a dedicated Maths Notice Board in Reception. Please call in and have a look at our board, in particular the school survey carried out by 4th class. Also included on the board are ‘Problems of the week’. Children are encouraged to solve the problems and post their answer before Friday. New problems are posted up every Monday. Problem solving strategies are being taught and reinforced in the classroom simultaneously.

Cumann na mBunscol

Well done to our panel of children who recently took part in the u13 Cumann na mBunscol  Championship. Despite putting on fine performances, particularly in our second game against Nenagh Gaelscoil ,we lost both games. Thank you to Mr.Williams (School Coach) for his continued commitment and dedication to our school.

Cross Country

The annual Schools County Cross Country competition took place on Wednesday 2nd October last. A team of 25 boys and girls from 3rd to 6th class travelled to Thurles to represent our school. Thanks to the combined efforts of everybody we managed to secure the team gold,( 5th & 6th  class boys team) and bronze (3rd & 4th  class boys team).

A special mention for Aaron Morgan , 5th Class who won individual Gold and James Tanner, 4th Class who secured individual Bronze on the day.

A big Thank You to all the boys and girls from Infants to 6th class who waited so patiently at the front of the school to give our Cross Country team a huge welcome home.

Thank you to Ms.Lawlor who co-ordinated the event at our school and to Bríd Morgan (Parent Volunteer) for sharing her expertise with us. Thanks to Peggy, Ms.Talbot and all the parents who both supported us and helped out on the day.

Best of luck to all the children taking part in the Track and Field event at Nenagh Olympic Athletic Club to-day.
