Vex IQ 2018

As you are aware, the children in 5th and 6th have been engaging with the Vex IQ Robotics programme for the past two years. This school year, the children have been designing, building and programming their robot since September, culminating in their participation at the Regional Finals of the Dell VEX Robotics competition on Tuesday 5th February, where we were delighted to be selected as recipients of a prestigious award on the day for “Outstanding ROBOT Skills”, a fine achievement for our small school.

We would like to thank the children for engaging with the project so enthusiastically again this year and also to acknowledge the hard work of class teacher Ms. Maria Butler and IT Co-ordinator Ms. Gene Maguire, who guided the children since September. A big thank you to Dell Mentors, Joe Correia and Fran Farrell for continuing to share their knowledge and expertise with us. We would also like to thank George O Leary for organising a day trip for the children to Goliath in Nenagh and Vivienne Farrell for organising a trip to the Modular plant in Shannon. Both visits gave the children a great insight into the practical use of robotics in day to day manufacturing.

Credit Union Quiz

Well done to all the children who recently represented our school in the annual Credit Union Table quiz held in the CBS last month. Well done boys on playing some terrific handball on the day!
