County Final

As you are probably aware, our u11 team have made it all the way to the Cumann na mBunscol Finals in Thurles this year. The final will be held in Semple Stadium this Wednesday, 19th June at 5:20pm. The U11 panel will travel with school staff to and from the match but we are hoping as many parents as possible will be in a position to bring their child to the game. It is a proud day for our school and your support would be greatly appreciated. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the team and this year’s trainers/mentors (Gilbert, Jane, Maria and Bill) the very best of luck on Wednesday!

Primary Games

A big congrats to Cian Moyles on making the Primary Games Hurling team this year. Cian was chosen to represent Kilruane NS at the Tipp match in Thurles yesterday. Well done to Dara O Looney who was chosen to represent our school at the Primary Games Gaelic Football trials earlier this term. What great ambassadors for our school and club, we are very proud of you both!

Sports Day

Our annual Sports Day will take place this Thursday 20th June. Parents are invited to join us from 11.30a.m. Children will break for lunch 1.00-1.30pm and sporting activities will continue afterwards. Children bring a lunch as usual, an extra drink might be a good idea. As Sports Day is a very special day at Kilruane N.S. a treat is allowed! Please be reminded that Kilruane NS is a nut free zone and continue to be vigilant about the contents of your child’s lunchbox. The Parents Association will also supply an ice-cream for the children on the day!

Again this year all children from Junior Infants to 6th will be on a team. Each team will have a colour – blue team, red team, white team or green team. Your child will be told their colour at school and we ask, if possible that your child wears some item of that colour on the day, e.g. a child on the blue team might wear a  blue t-shirt or blue shorts or blue cap etc. Please use your own judgement in relation to the weather. Looking at the weather forecast, a light jacket may be necessary.

On Sports Day, Junior Infants hometime is 2pm, everyone else 3pm, Mr. O Flaherty’s Senior Infants will remain in school that day until 3pm

At Junior Infant home time, (Ms. Carr/Ms. Kennedy’s classes) please allow teachers to bring children back to their classrooms so that children can be collected from their classrooms as usual. All other classes can be collected at the school gate at 3pm. A big thank you to Ms. Maguire, our Sports co-ordinator here at the school for all the hard work and planning she  puts into organising the day!

Active Week

We have planned a lovely “Active Week” for the children this week to include Dancing with Claire, Yoga with Siobhán, a soccer training day with James Scott from the FAI and Ms. Butler is organising a Tag Rugby tournament. Class teachers will also incorporate parachute games, rounders and other yard games into an already packed week. Hopefully we will continue to enjoy today’s fine weather until Friday.

Cake Sale

Ms. Butlers 5th and 6th class are busy organising a cake sale for this Friday. All monies made will top up the VEX Robotics fund for September. While the children in Ms. Butler’s class hope to provide enough cakes/buns for the sale, any child/parent throughout the school is most welcome to make an edible contribution! Please drop cakes/buns to the school hall that morning. All children will need some pocket money on the day to spend at the cake sale.

Please be mindful that Kilruane NS is a nut free zone
